Who

My name is Sydney, and I'm currently a research assistant and doctoral candidate at the Space Systems Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States.

Ever since I was a kid growing up in the south western suburbs of Sydney (Yes, you read that right, my name is Sydney and I'm from Sydney, Australia), I wanted to be an astronaut.

After finishing high school, I attended the University of Sydney, where I completed a bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering. Following that, I spent 7 months in Bremen, Germany, working as an engineer in a small aerospace company. During this period, I gained admission to the masters degree program in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT, where I ultimately worked on airbag-based systems to protect astronauts during landings in the Orion Crew Exploration Vehicle - NASA's replacement vehicle for the Space Shuttle.

I'm currently working on space habitat design for my doctoral research.
