Founder – Village Telco
Steve Song is the Founder of Village Telco, a social enterprise whose mission is to make starting a telephone company as easy as starting a wordpress blog.
The Village Telco was incubated during a three-year fellowship that Steve spent at the Shuttleworth Foundation in South Africa.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Steve worked at the International Development Research Centre for ten years. At IDRC he led the centre’s Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICT4D) programme in Africa funding research into the transformational potential of ICTs across the continent.
He has traveled extensively in Africa including making a solo motorcycle journey from Cape Town to Cairo. He blogs fitfully at http://manypossibilities.net.
