  • New things: http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/10/19/ice-cream-sandwich-is-finally-official-and-heres-what-to-expect/
    • Roboto font
    • Lockscreen
      • Kinda like Honeycomb
      • Some animation to indicate how to unlock
      • Swipe right to unlock, left to get to camera
      • Can get to notifications by swiping down the lockscreen
    • Homescreen
      • No HW buttons
      • Search box always at the top - no it doesn’t take space away from widgets
      • Scrollable widget support and widgets are resizable
      • Stacks from Honeycomb are brought over
      • Folders - drag one app on top of the other to make one (iOS copy). Icons can be reordered in a folder. UI for a folder kinda looks like a stack.
      • Favourites tray at the bottom is customizable (up to 4 icons). Can put folders there too.
    • Multi-tasking.
      • Done with a software button at the bottom - much easier to discover and use than before.
      • Looks like Honeycomb with a screenshot of the current state of the app
      • Swipe left or right to get rid of an app in the list. This doesn’t “kill” the app, but it does put it out of sight and mind so that you can let Android worry about when it needs to be closed.
      • Screenshots can be taken on device with power+volume down
    • Notifications
      • Not just icons and text anymore - devs can add images
      • Music controls in the notification area
      • Get rid of notifications with same swipe used as with multi-tasking.
    • Keyboard
      • More accurate
      • In-line spell checker
      • Improved cut/copy/paste - consistent throughout Android
    • Voice to text
      • Near-instant
    • Face unlock
      • Was a bit of a flop in the presentation, but later during demos it worked well and fast.
    • Browser
      • Bookmark sync with Chrome
    • User-agent switching
      • Tabs (I’m sure Android had this before...) - Flick a tab (like with notifications and multi-tasking) to get rid of it.
      • Incognito mode
      • Save pages for offline
    • Other apps
      • Gmail, Calendar, Maps, Google+ (that’s a core app now?), Music etc. All got a bit of a revamp.
      • People (A little poaching from WP7 by the looks of it)
    • Data Usage
    • Camera
      • Touch to focus
      • Face detection
      • Zero shutter lag
      • Panorama mode - switch to mode and pan: no waiting
      • Hipster filters (really? sigh.)
      • Other video editing tools - edits are saved as copy
      • Time lapse
      • Take a picture while recording video
    • Android beam
      • Send stuff to other NFC devices with a simple tap
    • WiFi direct
      • Kinda like Android beam, but with ad-hoc WiFi instead of NFC
